I work for a small business which uses Quickbooks for time-tracking and bookkeeping purposes. We also Filemaker to track our projects. Time is tracked in both applications which adds up to time-consuming time-tracking.

They are happy to do away with using Quickbooks if they can find a way to have filemaker perform the same functions Quickbooks does as far as reports, calculations, etc.

I was assigned to the projecta dn whereas I have database management experience, I have never worked in Fielmaker. My question is not "Help me do it", but simply: Is it possible to have filemaker perform bookkeeping functions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Seems i am in a very similiar situation to you. The company I work for also uses quickbooks for accounting, even though all job tracking, purchase orders and invoicing are done through our Filemaker system.

I am starting soon into seeing how I can best either get the two to "talk" or integrate the quickbooks functions into our Filemaker system.

I know that quickbooks can import data from spreadsheets. A short term solution maybe a simple export from Filemaker and import into quickbooks.

I'm also going to look into the Genesis Accounting Module that Old Advance Man mentioned in another post.

Would like to be kept informed of your progress.

Try "Biz Basics" I don't have their address but you can find it with any search engine. I think it will do everything you need and you can customize it to fit your specific needs.

They have a free download that is worth looking at. You have to wade through a lot of stuff, it's like they were trying to pack 5 lbs. into a 3 lb. bag. But I think you will find it well worth the look see.

Genesis Accounting Module was mentioned, but I found it to be very expensive for my needs. But take a look, they also have a free download.

Have fun (on accounting, sure that could happen)!
