Newbies pembrown Posted February 6, 2002 Newbies Posted February 6, 2002 I'll try to explain my problem the best I can, but before I do, it only occurs while using the computers at my school (where the file is shared). When it was taken off the network for me, and I took it home, I did not experience these problems. I don't handle the networking side to the server, but I would like to tell the man who does, what to try to fix this. When people are using the database, it will freeze up, after changing the cursor to a coffee cup. Other times, it won't allow new entries into the database. And most recently, it will not allow me (using the "all access" password) to edit things, via ScriptMaker, etc. which I could do before. To my knowledge, nothing was changed on the server side before this started happening. Any ideas anyone?? Please let me know ASAP! Thanks so much to whoever responds, Pem Brown
Steven H. Blackwell Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 Sounds like file corruption. How is the file being hosted? And what is the specific version of FIleMAker Pro in use? Old Advance Man
Newbies pembrown Posted February 6, 2002 Author Newbies Posted February 6, 2002 It's FM5 that we run at the school...I don't know too much about the server side stuff...but if the file is corrupted would it still work client side (not being shared etc etc) perfectly but not while being shared on the network? But it's also when I use the file unhosted, but at a school computer....any ideas of how to fix it would be appreciated thanks
