Deleting Record w/o Developer's password?

We bought a POS app written on FMPro 6. The app is no longer supported by the developer. The app comes in one small *.fp5 and loads of *.cji files.

I have two passwords for the app, normal user's and master password. But neither allows me to delete a record. I've used password crackers to retrieve 4 additional passwords, but still cannot manually delete a record.

It seems to be needing developer's password. Is there a bypass to have direct access to the records for deletion?

What happens when you try to delete?

Or is the menu command just unavailable?

With the passwords you've got, can you do File -> Define Fields?

The menu commands are grayed out. File->Define Fields is also grayed out.

Thanks for response.

I've also tried recover function. It says successful, but still same issue.

Hi SingSong,

I have never used Runtimes for client solutions, so I don't have first hand knowledge of this, but I believe that you would need to have the Developer Edition of FileMaker 6 in order to make any changes to the files.

FMPro 6. The app is no longer supported by the developer

Are you able to talk to the developer, or have they disappeared?

Several of us on the list, including me, have the Developer 6, and one of us could play with the files, However, I am concerned that we would be violating a license agreement. I think we would need confirmation that the original developer has abandoned this solution, and has given up all of his / her rights.
