Ocean West Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Well it's been a long time coming since our conversion at the end of last year. This is the first major upgrade since, there will be some things amiss and will need to be fine tuned over the next few months, as third party developers update their skins, hooks, apps and modifications that we have employed in the past. I am sure you may have questions and or issues please leave me feedback so we can address them as they come up. If you can't access the site with your account please email [email protected] or you may leave a message (888) 213-6720. <a href="http://www.ringcentral.com/ringme/ringme.asp?uc=FB5626B06BD1D412FC6CD0015F7FC5E7859359840425,0,4&s=no&v=2" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.ringcentral.com/ringme/FB5626B06BD1D412FC6CD0015F7FC5E7859359840425,0,4/2/ringme_small.gif" alt="internet phone service"></a> Cheers Stephen 1
comment Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Not really. How about making the star red or something?
Ocean West Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 seems to be a browser cache issue. click this... http://fmforums.com/forum/public/style_images/master/t_unread_dot.png and future participated topics should appear different ... eventually will change icon itself.
comment Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 It's still too dark to make a difference, IMHO. Another problem: ¶ turns into: ¶
comment Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 It's better now - and it would be better still if the gray star were a toned-down version: Still, there's something weird about two types of icon occupying the same space.

Ocean West Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 ¶ I see what you mean. - researching...
David Jondreau Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I think the site looks and feels 10 times better than before. Thanks! DJ 1
org Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I think the site looks and feels 10 times better than before. Thanks! DJ Totally second that, not really an active engager but use frequently for reference. Feels way better now. Due another tip in the jar. Many thanks for all your efforts Stephen. While I'm at it thanks to all the posters (esp. Comment who i have a suspicion maybe 'The Architect' ) who spend so much time helping, documenting and posting here, it really is appreciated, you are doing wonders for the Filemaker community. Thanks Olly Groves

Julian K Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Beautiful UI, looks really polished. The google search bar disappeared again, which is for me the most useful feature. I can't find what I'm looking for in the existing search bar, for instance "list found records" gives me an error that I'm using a word with fewer than 4 letters. Is it a thing of the site re-indexing like last time? Plus, it would be helpful to be able to search all content (or at least all pages, forums, help files, and maybe blogs).
Ocean West Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 you may need wrap your search term in quotes, - the search does a search across all modules (pages / forum / blogs/members) but it doesn't put them in one result set you will need to choose the module on the right to filter results to that module, there are some restricted words that the system will refuse to search on. you can do a google search by adding "site:fmforums.com" in any google search.
SoCalMacDude Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Site looks great, but I hate to say it, the search really sucks!! In years of doing searches, I have never felt so frustratingly restricted! The forum is here to search. You want people to find answers, rather than post redundantly, so this feature needs to be flexible and robust. I am having a problem with fonts not embedding in FM11 PDF's on windows 7 machines, so I search for: font embed PDF windows I get: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. So I take out the PDF, because it's too short. Still get the error, even though there are no 3 letter words (very important in this search, BTW). If I put it in quotes, I get no results, because obviously these keywords will never be found together like this in a sentence. I would rather return more results, so at least I have something to go through! Is it really that hard? Doesn't the default Google search button work normally? Why restrict it like this? It makes the forum information useless, because it is impossible to find! Please remove these ridiculous restrictions! BTW, do you know the fix for PDF's generated out of FM11 on windows that won't embed even the Ariel font? Graphics are there, text is gone. I'm sure the answer is somewhere in this forum, but I can't successfully search it. Thanks!
Josh Ormond Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 SoCalMacDude, I was able to search successfully with that word combination...it may have been fixed already. I almost always use a google search for searching any forum...I actually implemented a search feature in my Dev database that opens my browser and tags on the site restriction for where I want to search. Here is the google search I used the same search: http://www.google.com/search?q=font+embed+PDF+windows+site%3Afmforums.com
