Just posted new topic in Security issues re dmaged files. Done a search and not encouraged by what I read. I don't think I have suitable back-up.

If I have to rebuild my files from scratch, can I import layout elements and scripts from the recovered files, to make the process quicker ?

No, I would not do this. You can print out the scripts so you can reconstruct them more easily.
