As you all know that FMP 5.5 supports Two-Way Dynamic ODBC Exchange. How does it work exactly?

Let’s say I have FMP DB, everyday we import a big junk of data from Oracle to FMP, then we dump the data back to the Oracle in the end of the day. In the other word, FMP is Front End to Oracle Database. The reason we import and export back and forth is because it is not work dynamically, what we modify the data in FMP is not effect to Oracle. I wonder new feature called “Two-Way Dynamic ODBC Exchange” in FMP 5.5 solves this hard “Labor” work of import and export. If this is the case, then we don’t have to replace FMP by some other tools that support the dynamic exchange data. I personally love to stick with FMP unless I don’t have any the other choices.

By the way, the reason we need Oracle as a Back End is that we can use the Query Report tool such as Brio to access to it and to generate some complicated reports.

Any advise.

Thank you in advance.

I believe there is a plug in that can meet your needs. Check it out at www.clickware.com. It is entirely possible to have FM talk to any SQL database (both in and out) with this plug in. It enhances the ODBC functions found in the new 5.5 version.

Good luck! Hope this helps.
