Lee Smith Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Is it possible to execute a script on field entry or exit? Hi John, Please update your Profile if you are now using 14.
John Chamberlain Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Can you point me toward a reference for Script Triggers? I have searched this site, and quite a few posts for a simple definition of (and how to use, a Script Trigger) and have not found what I need. This is probably because I am not nearly as knowledgeable as most of you are. I have searched the FMP Help menu, two different FMP for Dummies books, and FMP The Missing Manual for "On", "Trigger", and every sub-topic of the "Script" references - all of these were fruitless. So, please, can you tell me what a Script Trigger is, and how do I use it?
Wim Decorte Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Nothing like the help file: http://www.filemaker.com/help/13/fmp/en/html/script_trigg.38.1.html
Wim Decorte Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 and: http://www.soliantconsulting.com/blog/2015/05/filemaker-14-script-triggers 1
John Chamberlain Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Thank you, this is just what I was looking for.
Fitch Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 - Here's an old but really well done article: http://sixfriedrice.com/wp/the-onobjectvalidate-trigger/ There are several other good script trigger posts on that site. - Wim modestly did not include: http://filemakerhacks.com/2012/07/15/wim-decortes-fm-12-trigger-reference/ - Just in case you want more: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=FileMaker+script+triggers 1
Lee Smith Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Here is another one that Matt Petrowsky posted awhile back that is a FileMaker file you might find useful. http://www.filemakermagazine.com/resources HTH Lere
