FMS not working after dragging folder from another drive.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Last week I got the dreaded "disk failing" warning on my 2011 Mac mini. I immediately copied all the files on the drive to an external drive. The entire disk. I also had a Time Machine backup from a few weeks ago. After adding some RAM and replacing the drive I did a Time Machine restore. Of course the FileMaker Server folder in the Library wasn't ever being backed up with TM. Neither was the Applications folder. All good since I still had the files on another drive, no? Well, no. I copied the FileMaker Server folder back to the Library and restarted. No FMS. Nothing in Activity Monitor as well. Granted there are a few more things I should do like repair permissions on the new drive, but I suspect I'm missing something here. The contents of the FMS folder are identical to what they were before. Any clues?

thanks,

rick.

Solved. Gave up and installed v14 instead.

FMS is not an application, it is a set of background daemons so I would not expect it to work by dragging and dropping from another location.  It has to be installed.

Thanks Wim,

Of course I tried reinstalling 13 but couldn't get it happening. The 14 installation hung as well but I got some amazing phone support from FMI (he was as mystified as me).
