September 29, 201510 yr I received an email from Cognito Software (MoneyWorks Accounting) last night with a warning about installing El Capitan on their server: "The El Capitan GM release made available to developers by Apple earlier this month had an extremely serious bug which would erase all data belonging to server software, including MoneyWorks Datacentre data and Filemaker Server data. We have advised Apple of the bug, and they have acknowledged but not said whether it has been fixed for the public release on 30 September." Has anyone experienced this from the FM side?
September 29, 201510 yr No version of any FileMaker Platform product is compatible with the El Capitan release. So don't try to install or to run FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server on it. Steven
September 30, 201510 yr In case Steven's message was not clear: DO NOT install FMS on a platform that is not supported. Then you don't have to worry about messages like that.
October 1, 201510 yr Newbies just released.. http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/15187/~/filemaker-14-platform-and-os-x-el-capitan
December 5, 201510 yr Newbies All I see at this moment is a 14.0.4 updater and 14.0.4.a patch. Is there no way do a full FMS14 installation a new MacMini under El Capitan? Installing an older version in order to upgrade afterwards results in an error messag '5003' followed by a dialog saying 'not enough access priviliges to this folder'. Or is that a separate issue? Downgrading the OS back toYosemite is not that easy either... Thanks for any wise words!
December 5, 201510 yr If you have a volume license you can email FMI sales and they can generate a new download link for you that will have the full version installer...
December 14, 201510 yr Oh. I seem to have missed this thread. Well, apparently not only the GM release was affected, the newest and the latest release too. I hit that bug. Good to see it wasn't just me seeing crazy things. I like that bug. It's so anarchy.
