FileMaker Pro 2024

Good morning. I have a series of QR codes on client devices, that when scanned will trigger a webhook that in turn runs a script on FMS. All works well, however it does just one task. I now would like - if possible - to have a menu appear on the mobile device that scans this QR code. From this menu, the user can select one of several options, and different webhooks could be triggered from that menu option. This would give me a lot more options. I might be on the wrong track, but would this QR code open a web page that displays a JavaScript menu that depending on the option chosen, launches one of a few different webhooks? Any thoughts are appreciated. …

I downloaded the Starting Point app and only added a password to the admin user and now the calendar page doesn't open when I click on it from the home page. Any idea why?

Hi, I currently have two FM files which started off as identical copies. One is live and in production, the other copy was given to an outside developer to make some improvements. Over the course of 6 months, I had to make some changes to the production copy, and failed to take good notes. What tools do you recommend to compare the two files for differences? Im really just looking to move the new fields and scripts I made in the production copy over to the new version (developer improved). Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have looked high and low to see if the new FileMaker Pro 2024 has these features: The ability to organize Value Lists in folders. The ability to organize Custom Functions in folders. We have folder organization for Layouts and Scripts, why not Value Lists and Custom Functions? I understand layout calculations are a feature that does not exist in 19: this appears to have its advantages and disadvantages. Are there any features that I am really missing out on? Bear in mind, I am using this database for just myself - not "deployed nor on a server".

I have been supporting a company running Filemaker Server and about 15 clients for quite a few years through various version upgrades. I have never previously had a problem with the clients seeing the host files. I upgraded the Mac OS and Filemaker versions about 6 weeks ago and initially every client computer was able to connect with no issues, but now there are three clients that can't connect. I have eliminated any possible problems before the Client machines and checked that the correct ports are open from those machines, I have run diagnostic tests on the OS, updated it to 15.5 and reinstalled FMP but the problem persists. Total noob question and I'm embarassed I don't already know the answer. I have a table of products and want the product number to ensure the record is unique. I'd like to use this product ID as the unique record identifier, rather than the UUID. How is this a complished?

I've spent all morning trying to figure out this issue and I'm stumped. I open a file, click Manage / Database, and a small window pops up that says "The file (filename) could not be opened. (Not Found). OK". I click OK, a window opens asking me to locate the file or click Cancel to cancel any further requests for this file. The odd part is that the file that's not found is the same file I just opened. If I click cancel OR select the file that's opened, all is well. Hey all. It's been a while since I've had my hands in FMP, and I'm slowly working my way back into it. Thus, I need some help figuring out how to obtain my desired result. What I want is to create reports containing portals that shows all records whose field "PO#" are the same. Is this possible? For example; I have 30 records - 15 whose "PO#" is 11111, 9 whose "PO#" is 22222, and 6 whose "PO#" is 33333. I want FMP to create 3 different reports separated by "PO#", each record listed in a portal. Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

hello all, I searched for this topic but could not find anything. I am running FM 21.1.1.41 on FM Cloud. I have a line item portal for entering part numbers for bidding purposes. I set the portal to alternate row state. The issue I have is that some of my fields have a fill color which negates the whole point of alternate row state. I have a Primary key field sitting behind a part number field. The part number is displayed and cannot be edited in browse mode. What i want to happen is when i click the 'Proceed' button above, i want to display these records automatically in another portal in also another layout whether it is one record, two record or even more record. Please help me i am a beginner I have a voucher selection in layout A, and what I want to happen is that when I select a voucher (ESC Voucher, Public Voucher, or Private Voucher) in that layout, the name of the selected voucher will automatically appear in layout B. Hi, Does anyone know please if FileMaker has the functionality/capability to add Record Tags to Drawings, so when clicked, it takes you to that record. We have recently undertake a door survey of 1000's of internal doors, each door having a 'Door Ref No'. The data recorded in FileMaker. We would like to add that 'Door Ref No' to a drawing for our client as a Tag, so rather than open the survey data, then look where that Door Ref No is on a drawing. They alternatively open the drawing, click on the Tag of a door they would like to view and it opens that record. Is it possible to show more than one record at the same time in one screen?

When I import photos into a Container using a script, there is no option to import a reference to the file only as there is in a separate dialog when I do this manually. How do I import a folder to a container field, using the reference only, within a script? Doh! Never mind. Just found it in the option when I specify "Folder". I'd swear that dialog didn't appear yesterday (or was that my mind that didn't appear yesterday?)

I installed FMS 19.6 on Ubuntu 20.04 server. ODBC is configured, and I can add a table from the ODBC data source to the relationship graph, so I think its working. There is no FM pro client for Linux, so I have to open the solution from my computer remotely, and so I have replicated the ODBC DSN on my computer. When I manually import from the ODBC data source, the left side of the "specify order" dialog shows the fields, and I can connect them to the right side. But when I try to script this step, it does not show the fields on the left, but instead says ""Specified when script runs". Why is that, and what should I do to proceed? (see pic below). Thanks.

I'm having a problem with ODBC on a server running Ubuntu 22 and FMS 21. ODBC is configured correctly on the server, and the data in a mySQL database can be accessed via ODBC (tested with the command iSQL). I have a script which was created on a Mac server, which imports data from the MySQL database via ODBC. Testing this on Mac is pretty straight forward, because I can log into the Mac server itself and run Filemaker as a client there, and do the import, knowing that the ODBC connection is the same one that will be used server-side.
