dezkev Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 In Matt Petrowsky's video on all things new in Fm 16 , the very first new addition is a new calculation workspace where we can see the results of our calculation. i.e. there is an additional pane in the work space where results can be previewed.( see attached pic). I can get to this workspace from the Data Viewer , but when I try to get to it from Define Fields dialog box, I just get the regular calculation workspace. What Gives ? Why is it not everywhere ? Thanks. kevin
comment Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Your screen shot is clearly of the Data Viewer. And according to the documentation, only the Data Viewer's Edit Expression dialog box was changed in v.16. 2 hours ago, dezkev said: Why is it not everywhere ? It wouldn't make sense to have it "everywhere", because you need to have a context in which to evaluate the expression.
dezkev Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Thanks Comment. Now that I think about it, it makes sense why it is not everywhere !! Regards kevin
Josh Ormond Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 The expression evaluation has only ever existing in the data viewer. The change in 16 was two-fold. Add in the auto-complete that has existed everywhere else in 15. Update the expression evaluation to allow for automatic evaluation. With the option to turn it off.
