In a single file, is there a limit to the number of records or is the limit solely based on the file size?

It is based upon file size.

I thought the limit was 2 G records regardless.

FMI claim there is no limit on the number of records other than that imposed by the file size limits - however if you want to have serial numbers in your records, then there is a limit. FileMaker only supports serial numbering in the range from 1 to 2,147,483,647 (ref FMIKB article# 107472), so if you were envisaging more than 2 billion records, you'll be needing to split them over a few files. smile.gif
