Unable to upgrade my 6.01 trial version to 6.03 on OS X,

because of error during instalation.

Is this a "trial version" limitation?

I don't think you update the trial, only the full version. Try redownloading the trail, it might be the newest version. Most likely its not and you don't need to worry too much since its only the trial.
