bckwheat Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 A small database enclosed that 3 fields do not show up in Preview mode or print. If you look at record 14 and look at the field (lower right) "Plate information", the data shows in Browse but not the others mentioned. I think I checked the obvious, text box, relationships, field format, but the data disappears. Any idea what I am missing? customer data.zip
Lee Smith Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Are they mark as Don't Print items under the menu Layout - Slide-Print? Lee
bckwheat Posted April 10, 2003 Author Posted April 10, 2003 Nope checked that out. I have attached the file to the original post.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Hey, There is something behind in the background that cause the problem. Do a select all. You will see the borders.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Nope. Need some sleep. I had turned the selection and group the layout myself Sorry...
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 OK, You've define a sort key....Go sort and remove this key. The datas are viewable
bckwheat Posted April 10, 2003 Author Posted April 10, 2003 thanks, do you mean in "Layout mode", or "browse mode" sort. I don't understand "sort key", and I can't find it in either of my FMP reference manuals. Sorry maybe I should change "Captain Obvious" to "Oblivous" Thanks again
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Hi, If you're on a Mac, do a Command S and you will see your sort order.... or simple RECORDS Menu ---> Sort Your Customer is a sort key...Delete it and see. But I only know one captain on this board
bckwheat Posted April 10, 2003 Author Posted April 10, 2003 I went to a mac and did as you said and removed the sort criteria "customer" and closed then went to browse and tried printing and it was still blank in the "plate information" field. It does the same thing in "layout #3" as well. bizarro
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Hi, Are you sure you were on record 14, cause that's what I've got printed
cjaeger Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 absolutely nothing wrong with this file under OS X. all records preview fine. Are U sure U were looking at the preview of he particualr record? (select all, omit record #14 , show omitted, preview) or (preview, unsort, go to page 14)
bckwheat Posted April 11, 2003 Author Posted April 11, 2003 I apologize guys, record 14 or any of the files that has data in the "plate information" field doesn't show in preview or print. I removed the file from the FM server and checked it on a windows with FM 5.0v3 and Mac 5.0v3. Its bizarro. . . What gets me is I can see the data fine in browse mode. NO PROBLEM. the minute I change to preview or try to print, no go.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Hey, This is not a system (Mac/Pc) problem. I take the risk. Do me a favour, have some more sleep.... My "sort key post" was just for you to see the records you were in. Now, just enter some records for your first record (not 14) and switch to preview. No problem I think. Then scrowl to record 14 and you'll see something. Or there is a serious bug in here.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Hi, Make another test. 1.Download the file you posted here (first post) 2. Perform a find on all "not empty" records. Put a " = " in the plate information and check the "exclude" in the status area. 3. Now switch to Preview and tell. Tell us if you don't see any data in the plate information.
bckwheat Posted April 11, 2003 Author Posted April 11, 2003 In the immortal words of he famous philosopher, Buckwheat "Otay" anyway What you suggested find the "Non" empty files then preview them WORKED, but as soon as I "Show All records" and go to ANY of the records, the data in the "plate information" DOESN'T SHOW OR PRINT. I am about to build a new fm program and try importing one record with the data. Calling all FMFORUM guys with Stars under their names. Thanks for any input.
bckwheat Posted April 11, 2003 Author Posted April 11, 2003 I am not sure why, but I exported the records in FM format. Closed the original file, opened the original file and created one new record in it. I put data in the "plate information" file and it showed in browse and preview. Then I imported all the exported records and CURRENTLY they are showing in both browse and Preview. Once again I refer to the great Philosopher Buckwheat " iza just don't understand Alfalfa" Thanks for your help guys, UGO, as some boisterous and obnoxious Americans say "YOU DA MAN"
