Some how I have changed the setting for the enter key to be the key that moves between fields in the layout view. I try to set up value lists and other similiar things and when I "enter" to create a new entry a carriage return is not created, it jumps to the next field. I checked preferences and a number of other places and cannot find where to change it. Can anyone tell me where to change the enter key parameter so that it is return carriage instead of to go to the next field? Thanks

I do not really precisely understand if you mean you have this problem in Layout

Thanks for answering. The problem may not be the enter/carriage return key. I am specifically trying to create and edit value lists and when I go to the next line for another value in the list, it does not allow me to go to the next line, like a carriage return. So I cannot create nor edit value lists.

I can never remember which is which (return vs enter), but if you use the 'enter' key on the numeric keypad you get the result you describe.

If you use the 'enter' key that's on the right of the letter keys the it takes you to the next line.

Coudl this be it, or is this to simple?

Ernst.

That is something I noticed when I first started using this. The Enter key doesn't seem to do anything. The Tab key must be used. After you assemble it

the Enter key allows you to leave the record and return to browse. ??

I wish I could experiment between the "enter" and "enter" keys on the keyboard, but I have a laptop that does not have the enter key to the right of the number key pad like on an extended keyboard. Ernst, I hope it is this simple. I will find a desktop and experiment.

Ctrl-Enter or Cmd-Enter (on Mac, I think) is the same as a numeric keypad Enter.
