Hi there, now i need to help one of my client which run fm on network wich Fm server to fix their problem which they say if they create a new record and fill in some data then let it idle, the db will disconnect from server, that is just a normal setting. Now the problem is after they open again, they found that all the data become blank include the auto generate data, but the record still remain. Do you all have any idea about this problem?

Regards,

Henry

Usual things first: check they are using the latest version of client and server software: patch them if necessary.

One thought: is the database set up to enter data into global fields in a data entry screen which are then "saved" to a new record by script? In this case, if the script is not run then the newly data won;t be committed to the new record and it will appear to disappear.

Ok, thanks for advice, i will go to check once they down their server. if the fm server also got patch to download, then i will got to download for them.

I also guess they are using global field but just see still got any other possible reason. The other information is the system also using portal to key in data.

It is quite hard to debug the solution that create by person, because need to study all the system flow. But is lucky they didn't close the design layout and scripting, else i can't help them to debug. grin.gif

If the user close all the design layout function by using developer tools (permenent pervent modification of database structure), is there any way to open it back?

Regards,

Henry
