JenMorley Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 We are using system that lets distribute demo copies of our runtimes to expire after five weeks (35 days), but then users can apply us for activation code, which is unique like user registration serial number such as X35W-P3UT-JJFQ-8KY1 and matchs up to each user name. We give out serial when they pay us. The software we are using for this is from http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/KeyCodeMaker/ Once the user puts in serial and the user name, the time limit is override and they can use indefinite. You friend could use it for any demo period (does not have to be 5 wks). If they like they can use same system. But it needs good security and removed access with 'Permanently prevent modification of database structure' option of FMD dev tool.
Henry Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 There are many way of creating demo version, you can use a external software to help you do that or you can set a script insite your system by using a counter or serial number. Some demo didn't control the duration, but they control the number of record. For the security, you can using Fm Developer tool to help you. Regards, Henry
