ronnie524 Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 I created a database with many files that are related to each other, what script do I use or need to send me to that specific field? e.g. file name X file name Y ((File name Y-1)) etc... (Field name Y-1) etc... Please help me
ronnie524 Posted May 27, 2004 Author Posted May 27, 2004 I wrote this in a hurry.... What I mean is that I am trying to recall a specific data from a different file/layout/field. The closest I got was to make a script using Open[Database#1] from my database#2. But all it does is open that file, and not the actual field( I have to browse through the whole database to find what I want). Hope this might be a little more clear
QuinTech Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 Hi Ronnie, you don't need a script to do this, you need to put related fields on your layout. Drag a field to the layout, and change the line at top that says "Current File (something.fp5)" to the name of the relationship. BTW, it's poor form to post the same questions in different places. Jerry
ronnie524 Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 Dear Jerry, Thanks for the advice... it wasn't quite what i was looking for, but somehow you helped me find a solution. tymuch. . I am still a nwb. and did not quite xpress myself well what i wanted to do. I was trying to create a button that linked me from one database to the other related database. Anyways, don't know if I still make sense, but thanks....
Newbies alycara Posted May 28, 2004 Newbies Posted May 28, 2004 I think you want "Go To Related Record" script step. Then if you want to highlight a specific field, you can do that with the "Go To Field" script step. It would help if you explained what you mean by "recall a specific data" or "linked me from one database to the other."
