The last time I used FMP was 5 years ago and I have forgotten most of what I learned. I do remember there was a simple and elegant way to put the field title "in" the field and then once you tabbed into the field or entered data the field title disapeared. I don't think this was done with calculations. I did a search on the web and in this group for the solution but found none.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you.

Detlev's suggestion would work. You could set it to 'select all' when entering the field so the text (field name) would be easy to delete. I'm not sure I would want any fields to pre-fill with labels however. You can also use a calculation (text). But you will need one for each field.

Case(IsEmpty(YourField), "YourFieldName")

Set this calculation field to transparent fill and border and place it over your field. On field format, unclick 'Allow entry...'

When the field is empty, it will display your field name but when Users click into it, the empty field will be displayed. I was unsure whether you wanted the field name to display if the field contained data. If the field name always displayed, someone would be required to click into a field just to read it.

You could also place your text label over the field with fill pattern opaque. When someone clicks into the field the label disappears anyway.

I guess I have calculations on my mind today. Of course, when they leave the field, they will no longer be able to see the entry or, if you leave the field label transparent fill, they will see both. crazy.gif I would prefer the calculation.
