I have set up a script to obatin page number so on a printout I could have "Page 1 of 10".

The script is like this:

Enter Preview Mode []

Go to Record/Request/Page [Last]

Set Field ["Page Number", "Status(CurrentPageNumber)"]

Go to Record/Request/Page [First]

Exit Script

Now the problem is that when I print sometimes I get "Page 34 of 30" which is clearly wrong. Does anyone know what is happening?? If it helps, or explains it, I use Sub-Summary Parts and a Trailing Grand Total.

Is Page Number a global number field?

Yes Page Number is a global number field.

Are you using ## to denote current page number? On your layout it would look like Page ## of <<Page Number>>.
