October 15, 200421 yr Newbies I just updated from 6.0 to 7.0. I have many documents that use repeating fields (portals are a mystery to me -- I'm an end user not a computer guru). All docs work fine, except one. It is basically an invoice document and the repeating fields aren't doing their look ups, except on the first line. I've been told the only way to fix this is to use Portals. Is there a work around?
October 15, 200421 yr Without knowing more about the solution, it's difficult to suggest a solution, although it may require portals, but if it was working in 6, there's probably a way to make it work in 7. The only thing I can suggest is that you investigate the Extend function. It may be needed for what you want to do. Chuck
October 15, 200421 yr It's time to start using Filemaker; it went relational in 1995. Repeats present all kinds of problems. However, FM7 did nothing to break repeats and your statement is incorrect. Exend is not the solution for invoice type lookups. But you need to understand relationships to make either one work, so you may as well figure out the long term solution.
October 15, 200421 yr Author Newbies -Queue- , I tried updating this 6.0 file with 7.0 v.3 with no success. This file has worked flawlessly since v. 4.0.
October 15, 200421 yr Please give us more information about your problem, such as how the repeating field repetitions are calculated.
October 15, 200421 yr Feel free to attach a Stuffed copy/clone so we can see your file structure also.
October 15, 200421 yr Author Newbies Here is the problem file. Rename the JPG extension as FP7 (I don't have a full version of StuffIt).
October 15, 200421 yr Author Newbies Here is the file with product number/description data (Supplies.fp7) which the KS Supply Orders file refers to. Change the name of the suffix from .jpg to .fp7.
October 16, 200421 yr You need to compress the file before uploading. It only genertes an error: "The image
October 16, 200421 yr Updating how? Did you clean up your file references? Did you run metadata magic on the file before converting? Did you read all the conversion documents? What do you expect people to do with this since you aren't supplying enough to even get the files to open correctly?
October 16, 200421 yr It works using 'Save target as' in IE. The file definitely needs some reference cleaning. I think there are duplicate relationships that might be causing a problem also.
