I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro (SP2). This was a clean install after scrubbing the drive (Gotta nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure). I reinstalled all the programs including FM Developer 5.5. However, whenever I run the updater, I get this error and it stops.

! Internal Error 2755. 1612, C:WindowsInstaller253e7.msi

Anyone encounter this or have any idea what gives? I even tried installing it on an old 2000 box and get the same error.

I had that error twice, and I could never get past it. I tried everything I could think of. Filemaker won't support 5.5. My suggestion would be to upgrade to 8 (a big improvement in functionality), or try and find a version 6 on ebay which won't necessitate a file change (6 uses the same file structure as v5 and will install without a problem).

Oddly enough, I had this problem, too. What I did was move the updater files into the FMP 5.5 folder itself and then ran the updaters. Worked perfectly!
