Install script not working on all XP computers

Featured Replies

Our IT director set up an install script so that all our employees would have to do is double-click on the Pro 8 set-up file and pick English for the language.

We are in a testing period with approx 10 individuals and the install when fine for 6 of them. The others receive an error message that basically states "FileMaker can not be installed or uninstalled on this version of Windows". I run XP Professional and can install fine but others running on the same can not.

What's going on?

Hi

check if those computers have windows XP SP2 !

  • Author

No they don't.

But they have to have !

The ones that installed fine have Service Pack 2 and the ones that didn't install have Service Pack 1. Our IT Director is going to install SP2 on those workstations to see if that will do the trick!

Thanks.

I read somewhere that they only requires SP2 while installing, but as it is won't Photoshop work under SP2 ...so the trick is to make SP2 "dismount" after installing. Anyone remebering seeing or hearing about this:

Ah! I just checked - running "remove SP2" thru google, makes M$ own recipe pop up!

Thank you Soren...I didn't know that FM8 needs SP2 only during installation.

But, without SP2, what changes in FM8 ?
