Hey folks,

I've run a few searches and haven't found this error anywhere.

I'm trying to upgrade a full retail install (that works just fine) of FMP 7 to FMP 8, but keep getting the following error right after launching the installer...

"You cannot install or uninstall FileMaker on this version of Windows. Please refer to the system requirements in the installation instructions for more information."

This machine fully complies with the requirements. It's running WinXP SP 2 (fully patched) and the hardware surpasses the system requirements by far. I'm positive I'm using the correct Upgrade product (says so on the box and back of the paper CD sleeve).

I've rebooted several times and disabled anti-virus, to no avail. I'm not sure what else to try. Any ideas?

Best bet would be to call Filemaker, since install problems are free of charge.

same prob here... i think the solution may be to login as administrator

fixed it... prob was that xp wanted sp2 installed to install fm8
