i need to 'get' some data from a FMP6 db and populate it in a FMP8 db. (migration is not an option with FMP6 db)

Before i go ahead with my idea of exporting out via script a dbf file from FMP6 db and then impoting this in to my FMP8 db via script i thought i would ask you guys if you can think of a better way of doing it?

Your idea will work. Unfortunately, you can't import directly from v6 to v8, so you'll need an intermediate file. I use .mer, but .dbf will do it.
