mcyrulik Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 We had a problem with a user being disconnected from the FM server randomly(or so we thought). We tested just about everyting, network cables, switches, gave her a new Mac... still got disconnected. She is on the latest client (8.5), and our server is updated (8.0v4) and still we couldn't figure it out. Then we noticed that the time on her computer was way off (for invoicing she changes the date on her computer so that the invoices end up in the correct month for accounting), and that she only gets disconnected during the times she sets her clock back. So, is there some sort of check that the FM server or client does to make sure that the times are within a certain range, and if not, disconnects the client?
FMDuck Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Have you found the underlying cause or workaround for this? I just had a customer contact me with the same problem except the clocks are not off by much. They just aren't sync'ed and that's enough to cause the crashing. They're all Mac.
mcyrulik Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 No we have not. We have pretty much written it off as just something odd that happens with FileMaker. We did end up calling FM and talking to people at the Dev Con, and they told us there is no check that occurs as far as time.
