Newbies tesfa Posted January 4, 2007 Newbies Posted January 4, 2007 Hello Fellow Filemaker developers. Tesfa Clacken here from Putumayo World Music and I have been updating all our databases from 5.0 to 8.5. And I have an issue and would be greatful for an answer. We have a database thats not letting us enter new records, when I press 'cntrl + n' or even when I select it from the menu it brings up a blank page and after I complete entering the new info and go to add another record it gives me this warning message, well actually its blank but has two options "Revert Record" or "Cancel" Whats causing this? I've checked my scripts, tried it on various computers, turned sharing on, turned sharing off. Nothing Works and its only doing that in this one specific file. What can I do?
Lee Smith Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 (edited) It can be a couple of things. You don't have the proper access code to modify or create records. The file is Read only at the finder level. Corruptions. Is this a file that you have converted from v6 to v8x If so, you probably need to enter the Admin in Account Name, along with a Password if you had one before for access. Newbies tesfa Posted January 8, 2007 Author Newbies Posted January 8, 2007 Many Thanks Lee unfortunately its none of those. I made the database fresh in File Maker 8.5 and I did not activate passwords on the file. Though i do fear you may be right in that the file is curropted. Thanks Very Much Tesfa
Lee Smith Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Can you make a Backup of the file? Can you post a copy of the file to the Forum? Lee
obdata Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 This could be caused by a field validation. Scroll through your fields in Define Database and check for any that say something like "By Calculation, Allow Override" or something like that in the Options column.
