FileMaker Pro 8.5 client crashes with no error

Featured Replies

Two clients are reporting crashes with FileMaker Pro 8.5.

Both users were in other applications (Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat Reader) and when they went back to FileMaker it just disappeared. No error messages were given.

One of the clients had it happen 3 times in one day and the windows Event Viewer recorded an ‘Application Error’

The first time it was in internet explorer and the 2nd two times it said:

“Faulting application filemaker pro.exe, version 8.5.1.378, faulting module dbengine.dll, version 8.5.1.378, fault address 0x00003760.”

Above the 2 filemaker errors was this info from DrWatson

“The application, C:Program FilesFileMakerFileMaker Pro 8.5FileMaker Pro.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 04/23/2007 @ 13:34:22.000 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 01AB3760 (DBEngine!Draco__DBFileUser__IsOpen)”

Event ID: 4097, which apparantly has something to do with Microsoft

Any ideas what this means? Does it have anything to do with MSN Messenger?

I’d be grateful for any insight.

My only suggestion is to try the FileMaker 8.5.2 for Windows updater.
