Newbies rsgiel Posted July 19, 2007 Newbies Posted July 19, 2007 Perhaps this is so simple nobody asks? I find nothing about it anywhere! I have a long-used filemaker database, and need to add new fields that were not part of the original database. I am asking about changing the database itself, not a layout that uses the fields already in the database. I need to add totally new fields that were never in the original design. Surely, a database can be modified after it is created, right? If you create a database with dozens of fields, and accidentally leave one out, There must be a simple way to add the missing field to make the database useful. This would be just like that, but after the database has been used for weeks, months, or even years. I'd appreciate any help on this. TIA rsgiel
Lee Smith Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 You only get one shot. I'm kidding. If is exactly the same as when you create a new database. See Page 43 in your user guide. Lee

Lee Smith Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Hi vaughan, You mean you don't have it memorized... Actually, I looked it up before I replied. Life, what the hell is that? Lee

Newbies rsgiel Posted August 13, 2007 Author Newbies Posted August 13, 2007 Thank you. That problem is solved and I've added fields as needed. Now I just have to figure out how to even explain my other problem, but will post that as a new topic.
