I making a DB project for our housing assigning office.

I have a Social Security Number field. How would I go about making it where if you put a social in that already exist it will stop or prompt you that that social already exist.

I'm new,

Thanks a million,

Cedric

When you define the SS# field click the "Options" button and go to the "Validation" Tab. Put a check in the box next to "Unique".

That way when you enter a duplicate number it will balk at you and give you the option of clearing the field or keeping the duplicate value.

If you specify "Unique" and "Strict: Do not allow user to overide..."" it will not alow the duplicate value to be kept.

Hope this helps.
