Is it true that the FileMaker Pro 5 Server is not a DBMS (Database Management System) product?

If it is true can anyone please give me more detail on how it function and do we need it for web publishing?

Thanks:-)

FileMaker IS a database management system. It comes out of the package with the ability to serve databases on the web.

Well, not entirely true. Filemaker Server is on piece of a RDBMS. Specifically it is the database server piece.

Also FMP Server cannot server databases to the web. You need either Filemaker client or better yet Filemaker Unlimited.

Filemaker as a whole (client/server/unlimited/web companion) are a true RDBMS in every sense of the terms.
