See also mail.it from www.dacons.com. Looks like a very nice cross-platform plugin for sending and receiving emails.

If you need to send and receive, you might want to wait on dacons. Their Mac solution is in beta and seemed to crash at the drop of a hat. Perhaps a not quite ready for prime time player. I've had good luck with dbmailer. -bd

Can I generate and send an e-mail from the filemaker pro database? It would probably be a web based database as well.

You can either:

Use the Send Mail script step with a compatible email program (Eudora or Em@iler on Mac, I'm not sure on Windows)

Use the Open URL script step with any email program as long as it is the default email program on the computer.

Use a plug-in such as MondoMail to send email from FileMaker itself.
