Hello,

I recently rebooted our FM 5 Server box (G3) as a regular operation, and now some clients are having problems logging back into it.

90% of the users can login just fin;, but for some, when they try to open a file, it asks for a password and then just hangs.

We tried rebooting the server again, checking the network settings, and every other obvious change and it still doesn't work for a few users.

If anyone has had this before or knows what's wrong, contact me!

I've not noticed similar systems on any of the FM 5 server installations I'm associated with. The usual suspects are in order.

1) Recover the database files.

2) Norton and maybe DiskWarrior the server. You might also check for excessive fragmentation with Speed Disk.

3) Reload FM 5 Server

4) Reload the OS (clean install), I wouldn't use OS 9, I'd stay with 8.6.

5) Look for client machine problems.

6) Look for network hardware problems.
