can't add fields to layout

In one of my databases that I have been working on recently, all of a sudden I cannot add fields to the layout. I don't get an error of any kind, and it looks like the field is going to add, but all that ends up on the screen is an empty box. I've opened other databases and they are all working fine. The only change since I last worked on this one is that I emailed it to the user for review and she emailed it back - she's on a Mac system and I'm on a PC. But, I also tried opening the backup version that I saved before importing hers, and it has the same problem, so I don't think that the trip to the Mac and back caused the problem. Any ideas???

It's probably not so much as Mac vs. PC issue as and Internet mail issue. Depending on how the file was sent across the internet (binary or compressed .sit or .zip), it may have lost something in the trip. It is probably best to send files in a compressed form and not as binary. My best guess is that the trip stripped some information from the file.

Options for a fix include performing a recovery on the file and/or replacing the layout. It is possible that only one layout was corrupted. -bd

Thanks. A recovery worked.
