I'm attempting to make my first database using filemaker pro. Currently I am making a checking account database. One of the fields is a value list, and one of the options in this field is check. I would like to have another field (check number) pop up when I select check from the list. If anyone could help me with this, it would be extremely helpful.

You'll need a related file and a value list based on the relationship.

Check your manual (or any books you're using in lieu thereof) in the section on relationships. It'll be there.
