I searched for the answer to this question because I thought it might be a commong one, but came up empty handed

Do you perform the find using a script? If so, could anything in that script be toggling the status area? When exactly does the status area return (i.e. when you enter find mode, or when you return to browse mode)?

I'm initiating find mode with no scripting. When I enter find mode, the status area appears and stays when the found set is displayed.

All I have is a button saying "enter find mode"
