What am I doing wrong? I select save-as from fm5.5 and even though the dropdown box claims that I can save-as a *.fm5, *.fm3 or *.fm I try the latter two and I when I try to open it from a filemaker 4.1 program I get an error stating that it was created with 5.0 and I can't continue. I also try the export feature which doesnt' work for me either.

You cannot save in older formats from Filemaker 5.x, the extensions allowed by the dialog box are incorrect. The only Filemaker format that you can Save As is Filemaker 5.x
