i have an issue where a client is saying their program occasionally has an error "filemaker is unable to read the disk the file is on" "click continue to try again or click quit and copy this file to another disk."

not sure where to even begin on this one... they're running macs... he ran norton to check the disks...

anyone have any experience with this error... and does this problem originate from a filemaker problem, physical network (wiring?) problem, OS problems, etc?? ideas appreciated!

Could be a lot of things. How about a few more clues...

What type(s) of Macintosh?

What OS?

What type of disk can't be read?

What version(s) of FM? Server?

What type of network? Hubs? 10/100? How many clients?

they're running filemaker 5.0v3... not server... the host mac is running os 0.2.1 all others are running 8.6 ..

not sure about the size of the network, but i assume its probably 25-30 workstations... 4 or 5 are accessing and using this program

Are they opening the file off a shared network volume? I bet...
