evan_panagiotopoulos Posted March 27, 2002 Posted March 27, 2002 I have been trying to create a checkbox without any success. I want to create a little box where the user will click on it and the box will turn into a check mark. In MS Access is called a Yes/No field. I'm sure FileMaker will have something similar. By the way, I went to help and couldn't get any direction regarding a checkbox. Side note: Several times I found the help to be completely helpless! Sorry. Evan P.
SteveB Posted March 27, 2002 Posted March 27, 2002 First define a value list, which we'll call Yes/No (located on the File Menu). For the field that you want to receive the answer, use the right click menu and select Format Field. Use the drop-down list and select either 'Radio Buttons, or 'Checkboxes and provide the previously define Yes/No valuelist. That's it.
Clancy Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 Does anyone know why if you select a checkbox you can actually enter a value for all the values in a list and yet if you choose radio buttons you can only select 1 value from the list ?
andygaunt Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 This is just the way it is. A radio button is more like on/off. whereas a checkbox can be on/on/off. Use a radio button when you want only one item to be selected. Use a checkbox when you want to select any number of items.
