Application crashes

Featured Replies

My application is crashing and need to recover in every 2 or 3 months, why its happening

Randhir,

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles. You need to provide much more info, though, if you want some answers. Are you serving the file on FMS on OS X? You mention recovering. It is not suggested that you use a recovered file, as they are unstable. You should recover only to export the data into a "golden" master.

I am not serving the application on FM Server, I am using the application by the FM 10 for the windows.

If your file continues to crash, and you recover and then use the recovered file, you are going to keep having problems. If you don't have a file that wasn't recovered, then my suggestion is to rebuild the file (File>New). Really.

Agreed. One of the dangers of peer to peer hosting is that the file will crash a lot. What else is going on with the machine that hosts the file?

Steven

and what are the event logs saying about the crash. The windows application event log should tell you what module of FM the crash is happening in and that may be a clue.

Given the problems you've been having, get FileMaker Server and put the files there. At least that will give you the ability to have live backups.
