Newbies drerle Posted December 18, 2012 Newbies Posted December 18, 2012 I am unable to get FM Server 5.5 to start at all on an iMac G5 with a clean install of 10.5.8 with no other software. I've trashed and reinstalled FM server on this computer and tried several other computers with the same result. I have tried it with a test database with three fields and four records>same thing. I tried it with no database at all> same thing. Anyone have an idea? Have any of you seen the installation disc get corrupted in this way?
Wim Decorte Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I'm not sure I would expect server 5.5 to still work on that version of OSX. server 5.5 was for 10.1, maybe 10.2 back in the G3 days. If you can't find an old OSX version, you may be better off running it on Windows. Find an old Windows 2000 box somewhere. It runs on Windows 2003 as well but there are known issues there too. Also: any clues in the log files?
IdealData Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Your stuck in a bit of a trap here. As Wim says 5.5 is unlikely to run in OS X 10.5.8. Equally, the latest FMS 12 won't run there either - it requires 10.6.8 an also on an Intel Mac. Time to upgrade hardware and software?
Ralph Schwegler Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 it should run... http://fmforums.com/forum/topic/81331-filemaker-server-55-failover-machine/?p=377941
