iwp image cropping issue

I've got an IWP solution in which photos are shown in a container field. As long as the container field is fairly small, the image shows without issue across multiple browsers. I have the image to shrink or enlarge to fit the container.

However, management has asked that I enlarge the size of the image within the layout. When I enlarge the container the image is cropped to about 1/4 of its height and shows the full width of the image. 

I've tried everything I can think of. ...various image formatting options, alignment options, container sizes, etc. No luck,

The images are contained in the field vs a file reference. 

Does anyone have any ideas?
