i have been using filemaker for just over a year now and am wondering why they dont have any of the below features, as i feel the inclusion of these would really improve it

triggers - on delete on create on update, that sort of thing

more behaviours on the layouts to run scripts not just on click button it would really make presentation a lot better if they had rollovers or the mouse over behaviour

lastly is there any way to get alternating row colours in list mode

any thoughts...

Its hard to know why those guys do what they do...I ranted and ranted about Ver 5.5 with no success so far (but it made me feel good).

Running scripts on exiting fields can really only be accomplished by a plugin.

Version 5.5 changes the cursor to a hand when you move over a button.

Alternating colors in a list is doable and easy. Get a copy of Scriptology for a lot of cute things. You can also look on www.databasepros.com for most of these.
