WebDirect over slowish internet connections

Hi

We now have parents connecting to our Medical Portal, which is a WebDirect interface. Parents on reasonable broadband are connecting ok, but parents on satellite connections and weak 3G can't even authenticate. It appears there must be a lot of handshaking happening, which their connections can't cope with.

Can anyone comment on this?
