PDF's and Word Docs?

I heard or read somewhere that with 5.5 you can store pdf's in a container. Is this true? Can you do the same with Word documents? On the Windows side I know you can insert objects and I guess I am wondering if maybe this feature has made it to the Mac in 5.5.
