SQL Server 2008 ESS - Only displays system tables

Hi all,

This is my first post in the forum - one of no doubt many to come!

I'm working on my first solution and as part of that I'm pulling in data from a SQL Server 2008 database which will be augmented by file maker tables.

I have been able to locate the DSN and setup the External Data Source, however when I try to add the table in the relationships screen I can only see the system tables in the SQL database - not the views and tables that I have setup.

Does anyone have an idea of a possible solution for this?

Running FileMaker Pro Advanced 14 on Windows 7.

Many thanks,

Tim

Assuming that you are running the R2 version of MSSQL 2008 - the most logical explanation would be that the account you are using to make the connection does not have rights to the relevant tables?

Thanks for the input Wim,

My apologies, I should have elaborated a little; I can use the same DSN in Excel and there I can see all of the views and tables using the same credentials.

Could this be an ODBC driver issue? 32 bit 64 bit?

Cheers,

Tim

Did you use a System DSN?

If you have the 64-bit version of FM14 then you need the DSN in the 64-bit ODBC control panel.  If this is 32-bit FM14 then you need the DSN in the 32-bit ODBC control panel.  But typically if you have the DSN in the wrong place you won't even see it at all.

What ODBC driver version are you using?  See this table for what is supported: http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6420

Hi all,

I'm not sure what our support guys did, but the DNS suddenly started working, not sure if it was a 32-bit / 64-bit DSN issue or not, so I'm afraid I can't provide any definitive solution if anyone else stumbles across this topic.

Thanks for the help though Wim
