FileMaker IOS App SDK

  1. Greets, all: I developed a FileMaker solution to run on iPads using FileMaker Go; I'm using the Data Separation model where one file is the UI and the other is the data file. I wrote to Claris for clarification on how to go about packing the solution for Apple's App Store (to which they curtly referred me to Apple), and I wrote to Apple and haven't heard a reply in weeks, so here I am wondering how do I go about selling my product on the App Store. I read that I need XCODE installed on my Mac and a Developers license from Apple ($99), but after reading some articles I don't understand the process of packaging the two FileMaker Pro files on my Mac into a pa…

I have the following situation at a cutomer of mine: FileMaker Go solution that is deployed via MDM software on ten employees' iPads. This is done via the runtime binding of FileMaker Go via XCode, making the solution an iOS application. An "In House" development certificate is required for this. Any other solution won't work. So I am included as a paying Apple developer in the team of my customer's subscription, and the customer then has the right to deploy "in house". After almost 10 years of cashing 300 $/€ per year so we can generate the certificate yearly, Apple has decided not to renew my customer's annual subscription. The absurd reason given is…

  3. Started by Simon Clement,

Text fields that behave as expected don't do so when viewed on iPad using FileMaker Go 19 or as an SDK created iPad App. The text moves to the top of the field on entry. Creating a new file using FileMaker Pro templates I get the same result but not always. Sometimes the text jumps to the left on field entry by a pixel or two. I've tried different themes, different typefaces, different point size and different field heights with no consistent result or solution. I feel there is something I'm missing. I could go through and alter every field, by modifying Template defaults, so they behave badly on my Mac but work OK on iPad but that would be a big job. …

  4. I have a strong idea for a FileMaker solution that could be deployed the iPhone or iPad platform. Also, one I am confident sufficient numbers of users would be willing to pay. It requires no server, as all data would be created and maintained by the end user and need only be accessed by them. My question, then is two-fold: 1. Is this technically possible? If so, how would the solution interface with the Apple Store in order for users to complete a purchase, whether a recurring subscription or one time payment? I do not believe the FM Apple API is designed for this and am not sure what other would be. Other issues, no doubt, are many though I am not sure what they may…

  5. Adding Preferences (via the iOS Settings App) to a FIAS project How to create and utilize native iOS Preferences functionality (in the Apple-provided Settings App) and share those preferences with the FIAS solution database, using the AppDelegate in a FileMaker iOS App SDK (FIAS) project (v18). What You'll Learn How to add native App Settings functionality to a FIAS project in Xcode. How to share/pass the App Settings data with the FIAS solution database. I have some trouble with testing a project with iOS SDK v18. Yesterday evening I updated my iPad Pro to iOS 13.1, and now XCode acts quite weirdly. trouble starting the app when running from XCode with earlier version I could stop the XCode run, and still start up the created app on the iPhone. Doesn't work anymore. Can anyone confirm?

Hello guys, good evening. I'm developing a solution right now. I just need you opinion and expertise. What iPad will you recommend that can run my app faster? Do you think iPad Mini 4 can handle an app for a Filemaker app? Thanks!

  8. I have put together what I firmly believe to be a very polished FM solution for IOS and plan to push this to Apple's App store as a first time developer quite soon using Filemaker's SDK/XCode kit. I do realise the complexity behind this, including catering for data protection during version updates, multilingual distribution, security options, etc. However, my question relates to the legality of: embedding the Web Viewer Tool in the App which, as a small feature of the App, will automatically search the internet for images based on existing field entries. using Google Maps in the Web Viewer Tool. including YouTube links, on another layout, w…
