does anyone know if filemaker will be coming out with a client filemaker pro since they came out with filemaker server for linux?

i'm trying to figure out where i go from where i am...

i currentlt have a windows xp playing host to one mac os x, two windows nt, one windows xp and one mac os 8.6 (which is barely used). the problem is the host computer is my computer, it's on all the time because we have part time employees who log in from home...

the mac x is used by my boss so that cannot be used as host

the two window nt computers are acad computers primarily so they cannot be used as host...

the other windows xp is used really remotely by the part time employees and locally when the part time employees are in the office...

so we have a limited budget and I guess my questions are

1. what is the best way for me to have a dedicated computer host the files (as long as it ain't mine)...

2. if i turn the windows xp computer that ain't mine into a server, can it still be used to physically enter data (that's why i was asking about linux client)

thanks

For that I will build Celeron 1.4 GHz machine for $500 plus WNT4 sp6 client OS and use it as server.

IMHO -- there are not plans at FMI to have Linux client. It doesn't have financial sense for them.

To port Server from Max X to Linux was piece of cake. To do the same functionality as a client will take 100-1000 times the effort of server port.

And users in Linux world are looking for free software.
