Invoicing Database from Using FileMaker Pro 5

Featured Replies

I hope this is the correct forum to be posting in!

I am looking at the Invoicing database sample that comes with Using FileMaker Pro 5 book. Specifically the screen where you are creating a new invoice and want to selet the customer. The customers are display in a portal and are gotten through a relationship with the Customer database. How are they laying down the three fields pk_cust_id, c_company_name, c_contact_full_name to get them to display? It looks like one field, not three, but it also has a button attached to it? I would like to recreate this but I don't know how they did it. Any suggestions?

I just downloaded this Invoice/People db myself to learn it (FileMaker_Solution_Framework). I was wondering the same thing. I found a program on FileMaker World Store (ISO Productions) which has a program called ANALYZE (beta vs). I loaded Invoice & People into it, and it printed out their fields, values, relationships and scripts for me to figure out! If you'd like the webpage, let me know. It looks very confusing, but I'm beginning to 'break it down' (on paper it's easier to figure out). I'm not sure your question could be answered 'easily' as the relationship and scripts are more complex. However, they are easy to duplicate (chuckle). I hope this helps. As I've read (and have always believed), things are simpler to figure out if you can 'disect' them on paper first. All my best!
