Sam Laundon Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 I am running FileMaker Pro 5.5 on one machine with OS 9.2 and FileMaker Unlimited 6 on another machine with OS X. I am disappointed with the performance with OS X. Can this be improved by increasing the cashe? Right now it is set at 8192k. What would I set it too? One example of the slowness of OS X verses OS 9 is when I try to display and print photos in the database that are "store only a reference to a file". In OS 9 the are only a few seconds delay between opening that database and having the photos displayed (two per page at 5x7 size). In OS X the delay can be 15 seconds or slower. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated - Sam
Sam Laundon Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 I set the cache to 12000 and the performance improved. How high can I set it? I have a iMac G4 800 with 768 of memory.
